I need to delete a double name for my Granddaddy. How do I do this?

I made a mistake when I entered my Granddaddy's name.  He liked to be called Haskell, but his name was Charles Haskell Plumlee.  Somehow it says: Charles Haskell "(Haskell") Plumlee.  I need to delete the one in the parentheses.  There is another member that has him listed as having a Brother named Haskell causing a lot of confusion.  Haskell and Charles Haskell are the same person.  I need to learn how to fix this error.  Thanks

The name in parenthesis is what you get when "preferred name" is different from "proper first name". Make them both the same, and the parenthesis will disappear.

If you put the same name in "Proper first name" as in "Preferred name" it should not show a name in parentheses.

 

You may initiate a merge with the other profile that's a duplicate, scroll down on the profile page, in the bottom there's a "initiate a merge" link, add the ID of the other Haskell, final ID needs to be the ID with the lowest number. If the other profile is private and you're not on the trusted list of the other profile you will have to wait for the other profile manager to finalize the merge.
