Does anyone have any information about Rev. William Nightingale, a Catholic priest of British birth, who was a parochial vicar in New York City in the late 1840's, was pastor of St. Ann Parish in Fremont, Ohio USA from 1848-1852?  After 1852, I have been unable to locate any record of  him.  This information is needed as part of the history of St. Ann Parish.

Hi Rev. Thomas,

I'm not having much luck turning up sources.

I found a source for his birth / Christening and added that to the profile. Along with a possible Census match. But that assumes he was in the same area in 1841. I'm no expert in UK records.

I can't seem to find him in the 1850 US Census for Ohio. Nor anything in Ohio in Find A Grave. But all this assumes he was in Ohio at that time, and / or died in Ohio.

Hopefully others will have better luck.

I'm sorry to say that this William Nightingale was not your Catholic priest in Ohio. This William Nightingale, who was a feather merchant of St Ann's parish, Westminster married Ann Jupe on 9th May 1843 in Marylebone, London. He gave his father's name as Charles Nightingale, also a feather merchant. The marriage witnesses were Uriah Butt and Maria Nightingale. (Marriage register entry is on Ancestry).

In 1851, they are living is St John's Hampstead. William was shown on the census as age 34, a bedding manufacturer born Westminster St Ann's. He died the following year in Hampstead, and on the 1861 census Anne is shown as a widow, living in St Pancras with her three children William, Rose and Leonard.
