Hi:  I'd like to join the Ontario project.  I presume this project encompasses the Canada West and Upper Canada predecessors?

Craig Treleaven
If you know about C.W. and U.C., you should definitely be a part of the Ontario project, Craig! Mags will award you the Canadian History Project badge. Please check out the project page and add your name to our list of members.
I would like to join the Ontario Project. Family located in Northumberland County and Frontenac County since mid 1800’s.
Oops, just saw how to add another Ontario resource which I don't see on your list, a searchable database for Perth Military Settlement with the original granted lots in Perth, Drummond, Bathurst, Beckwith Twps.  Will do that now myself.  Jan

Terrific! Thanks, Jan.
I’d like to help out,  and maybe find out more about my Purcell lineage at the same time.
Welcome, Jeff. I'm always happy to see new Ontario families added to our common tree. I have Fagans in my own tree as well and was interested to see that your Fagan connection was a bronzer in Toronto, according to a census record. Interesting occupation!
Hi Samantha White, You mention your family was from the area north of North Bay.  While my ancestors did not go as far as James Bay, my Briggs great grandparents from Flos Simcoe and gr-grandparents Chrysler and their Kerr relations from Brantford, homesteaded near Englehart in 1901-03.  I have several significant burials that area to New Liskeard.  I was born in England but lived near Timmins from 1946-1955. I'd be happy to share stories if those areas overlap your interest.
I would like to join. My ancestors, that I know about, start with Andrew Bezzo and Sophia Beaupre. They lived Charlotteville Twp, Norfolk. I live in the USA and know very little about Canadian history and such. Will need a lot of help, but willing to help with profiles as I find them, even if they aren't 'mine'
Thanks, Lynne. Welcome aboard!

Well, since I've already joined the UEL sub-project of the Canadian History Project, and my possible-UEL ancestors relocated to Ontario, joining this project seems like a good idea, too. Resources pertaining to the early Hamilton area (specifically, Ancaster and Beverly) are something I've been having some trouble with.

Welcome to the project, Leah! I've just sent you a private email with some further information.

Welcome to the project, Eloise! I've added your name to our list of participants on the Ontario Project page. You can add your interests beside it if you like. We have free-space pages where we collect profiles for Notables, Authors, Artists, etc. You can choose to do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions, just drop me a line.
Thanks so much!

Joanne
by Living Morgan G2G Crew (380 points)
Welcome to WikiTree and the Ontario project, Joanne! I'll add your name to our list. If you have any special area of interest or knowledge, please add that beside your name and add the tag Ontario to the tags you're following on your profile page. Then I suggest taking a look at the project page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ontario. We've begun a few free space pages for authors, artists, etc. You could add profiles to those or improve the ones already there.

Any relation to Southam of Southam Newspapers? There's a Notable Ontarian right there!

My family on both sides have connections in Simcoe County and Wentworth county including Hamilton, Glanbrook, Ancaster etc. Although many members moved on the first of my McNabb family settled in Oro Township in the 1830's. I would be willing to help if I can in those areas.
by Anne Farrar G2G6 (6.7k points)
Glad to have you on board, Anne. As soon as we have Oro recategorized, I'll let you know so that you can add the category to your profiles. In the meantime, I'll add you to our list on the project page. If you come across any useful resources for Simcoe and Wentworth in your research, please add them to our Resources list. Thanks!
Are the various counties etc recategorized yet. I can help with Oro and with Wentworth
Thanks for the reminder, Anne, and the offer of help. Oro is more or less done. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Oro_Township%2C_Upper_Canada It needs Resources and any historical information you may find to add to the three category pages (Oro Township, Upper Canada before 1841, Oro Township, Canada West 1841-1867, Oro Township, Ontario after 1867), but you can now use the categories for your profiles. Wentworth I'm going to tackle today. Once I put in the links, I could use some help editing and adding to the descriptions and adding Wikipedia and other resources.

I'm interested in Ontario so far as it pertains mostly to my and my wife's families, the Nelders, Gordons, Camerons and others.

Note: the link to this post is broken on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ontario and I'm not sure how to fix it.
by Michael Babcock G2G1 (1.7k points)
Welcome, Michael. Mags will award you the Canadian History Project badge. Please add your name to our list on the Ontario Project page along with your interests. The link seems to work now.
Hey Michael - I checked the link and it appears to be working fine. Unless I am missing something. Thanks, Mags

Would love to join. I have ancestry in Onatrio on my paternal side (family names Elleker, Smith, Skally)...most came around the time of Confederation. Interested in learning about potential siblings of my Elleker ancestors. Would love to join and consolidate the references I've collected over the years.
by Daniel Elleker G2G Crew (650 points)
Great. Mags will award you the Canadian History Project badge. Please add your name to our list on the Ontario Project page along with your interests. Not sure if you've noticed this or not, but if you enter Elleker in the surname box and hit the button to the right, it will provide all the profiles under that spelling as well as other spellings. At the moment you seem to be the only WikiTreer following the Canadian branch, but I suggest taking a look at the Ohio group.

day late and a dollar short Laurie - I awarded the badge LONG before your note. :-) Mags

Hardy, har, har, as my Dad used to say! Let's see how fast that badge is awarded to Laurie below!

I am interested. I have one very important family and children that were there  - Horne/Todd/Robinson and my step grandson's family: O'Neill, Brownrigg, St. Armand.

I still work, but can help as I can.
