1910 census shows Nannie Grice being married to George Washington Ware b 5/7/1851 Kings Mtn  d 5/29/1935. His death certificate shows her as his wife.He was also married to Rachel Berry. None of the children are the same   Then on 1920 census, it has Nannie and George Ware with 2 of Rachel and George's children listed as members of household

Can you link to the census records you are talking about.  I don't see the 1910 one with wife Nannie.
It's always useful to include the WikiTree ID of the people in your question, as it includes details to locations, dates etc that might help locate the records. I think this is the woman you are referring to:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Grice-396
that is on my wiki site
see census under wiki ID 1816

You have the George W. Ware born in 1860 attached here. We are looking at this one

"United States Census, 1910," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:ML9W-SCP : 29 October 2015), George W Ware, Kings Mountain, Cleveland, North Carolina, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) ED 39, sheet 29A, NARA microfilm publication T624 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.); FHL microfilm 1,375,116.

I found the 1910 census for George Ware, King Mountain, NC and his wife is Rachel. The 1920 census shows his wife is Nannie. It seems he married Nannie after Rachel died in 1917.

If you look, according to census they were married for 23 years.  Look under wiki ID 1816

A Wiki ID has both a name and number.  They are found on the profile page in the upper right.

WARE-1816
Information on a  census is only as good as the person giving it. We have no idea who told the census taker they were married for 23 years. Maybe he looked at the age of the oldest child and guessed that Nannie was the mother and added a year or two. Maybe he asked a neighbor, maybe he made it up, who knows. This is why we need more than one document to prove a genealogical question. I would not discount this census without finding more information.

There is also a death record for the first wife available at family search. It corresponds with the Berry surname information.

"North Carolina Deaths, 1906-1930," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F36N-XWY : 8 December 2014), Rachel Ellen Ware, 20 Sep 1917; citing 4, Cleveland, North Carolina, reference fn 271 It. 6 cn 312, State Department of Archives and History, Raleigh; FHL microfilm 1,892,189.

Wiki ID 1816 has copies of Nannie and George's death certificate and provides evidence of husband and wife. It also provides evidence of her surname
Margaret Grice and Nannie Grice are two separate people.  There are two 1910 censuses for George W. Ware.  One in King's Mountain and one in Reidsville. The family on your profiles links to the one in Reidsville.
Margaret/Nannie only clouds the issue further if separate people.  Does that mean George had 2 or 3 families and kept them far apart or are there multiple George's with near identical birthdays & names?

Forgive me if this is off base, I have been pursuing this on Ancestry and have been away from here a while.
