Indicate Parents Not Married?

My great grandfather Isaac Turney (Turney-281) was born out of wedlock to Mary Catherine (Turney) Stuck (Turney-290) and Peter Haldeman (Haldeman-117). Mary and Peter never married. Isaac was raised by his Turney grandparents. Years later on Mary married Ephraim Stuck (Stuck-64).  How do I indicate this? Thanks!

Just flagging that this is yet another reason why we need the relationship field to offer more than only "married".

Beth, until Wikitree makes itself consistent with standard genealogy programs, you have to use the narrative to explain and link to non-marital relationships.
Thanks, Jilliaine.

Go to the either of the parents' edit pages.  On the right you will see the link add/remove a spouse.  Click on that. Follow the directions on that page and remember to save.

Thanks, I tried that and several other possible fixes, but I don't see how this changes the marriage to a non-marriage union. I want to keep both parents. Any other thoughts?

Go to edit for Peter Haldeman. Go to add/ remove spouse and at the bottom check Mary and click remove as spouse.Check Isaac still has both parents. If not, add him as a child.

You might need to change Mary's current last name.

Thanks! Since Mary married years after Isaac's birth, it doesn't seem right to change her last name... Too bad there isn't a way to indicate an non-married  'union'.
