born abt 1790; career soldier as Cpl in War 1812 (Capt Herman Mercer's GA Militia/Booth's Regmt) > Seminole Wars > Capt of Taliferro Co GA Militia (Sanford's Company, 1st GA Infantry) for Creek Uprising of ~ 1836.   Married to Frances Coleman Burnley Smith in Washington, Wilkes Co GA, Nov 22, 1820.  Lived in Hall Co GA during the late 1830s to ~ 1847; thence to Taliferro/Troup Co GA.  He is believed to be same as found in 1870c of Oaky Streak, Butler Co AL, as a J.P.  Death date has been given as Oct 24, 1871, died at premises of Mrs. E.E. Jernigan of Oaky Streak.  [his wife,  Frances C B Smith Sanford] estranged ??, is apparently institutionalized or a health worker at Augusta GA;  She died there Sept 25, 1882, buried Magnolia cem.
