How do I propose a merge, instead of just initiating an unmerged match?

I see how to initiate an unmerged match.  But I forgot how to propose a merge of 2 profiles.  In the case there is a profile manager to get approval from.

And if you are certain 2 profiles, w/out a manager, should be merged.  Should you go ahead and merge?  Or do you need some sort of approval?

When you initiate an unmerged match, you have been seeing a screen with several options:

  • COMPARE
  • MERGE
  • MATCH
  • REJECT
  • REMOVE

To propose a merge, choose MERGE. Unless you have merge permission for both profiles, that will set a pending merge.

And if two profiles are orphaned, and Open, and not project protected, and you have permissions to edit in that date range, you don't need to ask for any special permissions to merge them.

Just be sure you are making the right decision, because a merge can't be reversed.

And do create an edit summary that explains your action.
Got it, thank you!
