Why does some wikitree profiles have a Relationship Connection Link at the bottom and others do not?

It's likely a practical and logical reason but I'm guessing not many people understand the reason and this would be a good way to explain to us all. Clearly one can go a step further and manually check on another page, but an explanation is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I find this issue often but here is one random example:

https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Prust-Family-Tree-1
yeah... its because that family tree is just a "twig", and is not connected to the larger main tree.
That makes sense in this instance and likely many others. It was the first new example I stumbled across. A good example of why connecting "twigs" to the bigger tree is important.

It's related to Privacy settings.

The relationship link only appears for profiles that have a "public family. tree."

But that's not the only reason...

If profiles aren't connected to the main tree, then the relationship connector doesn't show either.

Can you share a link to a profile that does not show the relationship link?

Dennis, when I click on the profile above you provided that is not connected, I still get the "relationship to me" link.  It is an open profile though, so probably why it does show up as Ellen mentioned above..

maybe we're talking about two different things then... because it doesn't show for me

That's weird.  When on the profile, are you going to the profile name (Smith-110703)  in the upper right hand corner, then down to the "relationship to me" link towards the bottom of the list that opens?

ah, you guys are talking about the menu item

I was talking about the "X degrees from Kevin Bacon...AJ Jacobs..." at the bottom of the page. (which takes you to the same page)

It is the bottom of the page I was referencing also.
Sorry, I guess I misunderstood what you were referring too.
I would assume Hardell-1, a Surety Baron of the Magna Carta is an example of what you mean. Previously when I looked him up I didn't understand why he wouldn't have the link, after your both explanations I notice his profile indicates zero family. That's likely just an oversight or not completed because he was the Mayor of London according to the profile. Is that an example?
