1899 book with Holden, Chase family dates (also Kellogg and others)

Question

VERY OLD dates book obtained in Hampshire County Massachusetts USA. It has many Holden, Chase family names and dates. Have found grave site info on listed Freeman Holden B 7/31/1837 D 1873 Amherst MA. Too many names/dates to list. Owner name not listed, but ref Grandma Holden D 1884, Grandpa Holden D 1886, Father Holden B 6/30/1827, D 3/13/1910, Mother Chase B 1822, D 1911, Father Chase D 1821 and many other Aunt/Uncle ref.

Hoping to find appropriate family/lineage to re-home book.

It's a shame these important family records get tossed.

No reason to toss it. you can donate to your local genealogical society or the NEHGS. it would be wonderful to put it in the hands of an organization that is likely to scan it, as well, for Internet consumption. ;)

I could not bring myself to toss a historical  record. I was commenting that the book was discarded by someone thus now in my hands. Thanks for the lead on NEHGS. I'm also considering a Historical Society where several generations are known to be interred.

Freeman Longley Holden and wife Louisa in 1870 U.S. Census had two sons: Walter b. 1864/5, and Eugene, b. 1867. Eugene died in a long-term care facility in Ohio in 1959, never married. I've found a possible Walter. Walter Everett Holden born Dec 11, 1864 in Amherst MA (check - Freeman's home in 1870). I cheated and searched trees in Ancestry. This Walter had no parents listed. He had children, at least one who continued the line. IF it's the right Walter, then there are two living generations of descendants who are private in Ancestry, who would be 2xt-great and 3-x great grandchildren of Freeman. The owner of the tree is not a Holden, so I can't tell what the possible relationship would be.

If you wanted, I could send a private message to the owner of the tree to see if they could determine if this was a correct relationship, and if so, if they would be interested in this book.

By the way, Freeman was a Civil War veteran, and the 1870 Census lists him as a "broom maker."

Thank you for your response. I found Freeman L grave info. A Eugene and Walter are noted in the book with the same birth dates you found.

From book entries for Henry A Holden (b) 1827 - (d) 1910, I found much useful information from findagrave.com - leading to finding info on three generations from Hampshire/Franklin counties MA, all who are listed in the book. Now hoping to find Paul Clarence, Robert W, Philip A. - sons of Carl Mason Holden (b) 1900 - (d) 1979. Also waiting to hear from the cemetery where Henry A, wife Maria C. Kellogg Holden, son Adelbert L and wife Eva D Chase Holden are interred. I might also try to contact some Historical Societies where Henry A, son Clarence H, grandson Carl Mason are interred (Florence MA and Ashfield MA respectively)

There is another Holden lineage from the Amherst MA area which I believe to be different from that of the owner of the book as she did not have the names listed and where names were the same birth dates were different

The book might go to a  Historical Society of the Henry A Holden lineage.

Holden's in Massachusetts is very there was steven holden who seven children his wife died. Then he died and the children were divided up in the families. I'm a Holden family went from mass to Rhode island to New York. My cathy Holden please don't throw the book away.

The book went to the Hawley (MA) Historical Society where Holden family are active members.

Richard Holden came over from Ipswich, Suffolk, England in 1634 on the Francis, he was from Lindsey near there, and went to Watertown,  Massachusetts Bay Colony.

He married Martha Fosdick and they had ten kids
