Alice Elizabeth Eastwood: unable to locate birth info

Searching for parents and birth info for "my" Alice Elizabeth Eastwood. From her obit and death info I've found her stated born April 13, 1828, Richmond, Virginia. She consistently states her birthplace as Virginia throughout her life. But there were a lot of Eastwood families in Virginia! She moved for some unknown reason to Connecticut between 1840 and 1845. There was no mention of whether she went by herself or with family. By 1850 she gives birth to the first child with husband Ambrose Ruel Sparhawk and is living in Oswego county, New York. They lived for many years in Parish, Oswego county, NY but she eventually left for treatment for her arthritis to Battle Creek, Michigan accompanied by her daughters. They continued westward, living in Oakland, California until her death in 1890.
I have no trouble documenting her from the birth of their first child, but am unable to confirm anything before that time, including a birth record for her, or a marriage reccord. She is in Oswego county NY by 1849, as there was a newspaper notice that she had unclaimed mail there.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Jo W G

Frank, I put together the findagrave page and the links with the information I found in her obit and death record (and censuses).  I know about her life from about 1849 or 1850 until her death, but nothing other than what I stated about her birth, birthplace, and only a probable surname.  Also no marriage record for her and Ambrose Ruel Sparhawk.  Have you found any early information?

Thanks, Jo

No, I have not found any early information on Elizabeth Eastwood. Sorry.

Alice Elizabeth Eastwood Sparhawk seems to have magically appeared!  I can't find her being born anywhere, darn it!  Thank you for working on it.  Jo

I'm not sure if this means anything but it caught my eye while searching.  Perhaps it's worth checking the descendants of Job Tyler.

    Thanks Patricia!

A lot of the info I have about this family comes from the Tyler book.  Jo

Wayne, there is nothing I've ever found mentioning her parent's names.  She does state she if from Richmond, Virginia, and her name when she was married was Alice Elizabeth Eastwood.  I'm not even certain that Eastwood was her birth name!  That's just an assumption I'm working with.  I can't find birth parents, siblings, a reason for the move to Connecticut at about age of 13 (and can't find proof of her living there other than an obit).  So I have found a lot of Eastwood families in Virginia in that time frame, but no mention of her anywhere so no way to eliminate or attach her to any particular family.  Wish I knew more!  Jo

    Update on Alice Elizabeth Eastwood

After a long time searching, I found the record of her guardianship paperwork in Connecticut.  It is listed under the Probate Court, Number 3530, Norwich Probate District, in 1843.  She chooses Leonard D. King as her guardian, so obviously knew him.  Not much else in the paperwork.  Leonard D. King was from RI and moves to Oswego County NY about the same time as Alice, just before 1850.  What is the connnection?  I don't know anymore about it.  Does anyone out there know more about this?  Thanks, Jo
