Can a wiki user change the default privacy settings for people they add?

I understand the reasons behind habing a universal "private" default setting when new people are added, but is there a way in settings to change the default of living adults be what we individually prefer? It not only takes more time to go back in and edit the privacy settings but I'm suspecting a good number of the merges are a result of this default.

I am also interested in this question.  In my case, and considering our purpose here, I think I would set default to "Private with Public family tree" as I entered living people. -NGP

You have to be very careful about peoples' legal rights to privacy when they are living, that is why it has a default private setting.

Hi, Cynthia!

Here's the Help page on Privacy levels: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Privacy

You can't change the default, but you can use the Bulk Privacy Level change tool to do many profiles at once. Just be careful that you're keeping sensitive information -- birthdates, locations, other biographical facts, etc -- private according to point #5 in the Honor Code.
