He moved to Wales and married a Maria Davies in 1843 Glamorganshire, he was a coal miner and 1851 moved back to West Bromwich, Staffordshire before moving back to Llanwonno, Glamorgan, Wales. He lived there until his death in 1880. I am trying to find out who his parents were.

I found him as "Samson Goldin" in the 1851 census and an age of 38 which would put his birth back a decade.

Name   Samson Goldin
 Event Type   Census
 Event Date   1851
Event Place   West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England
 Registration District   West Bromwich
 Residence Note   Greets Green
 Gender   Male
 Age   38
 Marital Status   Married
 Occupation   Coal Miner
Relationship to Head of Household   Head
 Birth Year (Estimated)   1813
 Birthplace   Dudley, Staffordshire

"England and Wales Census, 1851," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGG8-6PP : 24 July 2016), Samson Goldin, West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England; citing West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England, p. 5, from "1851 England, Scotland and Wales census," database and images, findmypast (http://www.findmypast.com : n.d.); citing PRO HO 107, The National Archives of the UK, Kew, Surrey

Edit: All other records indicate a birth year of 1812/13 apart from the 1861 census where he is wrongly down as 39.

The archives in Dudley have 'Sampson' GOLDING  christened on 23 April 1811 in Dudley UK however no Parish is given.  I believe St Thomas was the only one in operation at that time.

Parents are listed as Adam GOLDING and Hann. (Hannah) GOLDING.

Sampson is also known in some documents as 'Samuel'.

There is a Census entry for him under Samson GOLDING on familysearch.org for 1871 living in Clydach, Ystradyfodwg, Glamorganshire, Wales.

You will find 'Sampson/Samuel' and Maria went on to have over a dozen children in and around Wales.

I hope this helps you in your search.
