Connecting one notable to another one

+7 votes

Thought I would share this.

I got a bit bored today and not wanting to bang my head on one of my numerous brick walls, I decided to do some sourcing/connecting.  I got to looking at Charles Lindbergh, the aviator.

I noticed that his maternal grandmother, Evangeline (Lodge) Land had no parents, birthplace or siblings listed.  So I decided I would see what I could fill in.

Just a bit of looking on family search, I found her parents, siblings and marriage date.  All properly sourced, of course.

The funny thing is that, in doing the work on one notable's tree, I ran across another notable.  It turned out that Evangeline's brother was John C Lodge, who was the Mayor of Detroit for most of the 1920's and a member of the Michigan State house of representatives for a time.  John Christian Lodge.

I created a page for him, put the notables tag and now we have 2 notables closely linked.

I am not related to any of these families, so after completing the pages, I removed myself as manager so someone actually related can take over.

I figure I just put in a few  names and make the tree a little more complete, you never know what you'll find some days.

That's the way to do it! Awhile back, I worked on connecting musician Levon Helm. Much to my surprise, he was only a few steps away from cosmetics giant, one of the first big female entrepreneurs, Helena Rubinstein. You never know what will turn up!
