To expand on Frank's Post.

George Robert Whiting, fireman, age 23, born in England and residing at 1124 Edinburgh St, in New Westminster B.C. Married Marjorie Annie Malcom, spinster, age 26, born in Chicago U.S.A., residing at 1423 7th Ave. Westminster B.C. on 2 Sept 1926 at St. Aidans Church New Westminster, B.C.

George's parents were Henry Wilfred Whiting(b. England) and Annie Stokes (b. Chicago.)

Annie's parents were William J. Malcolm (b. Ireland) and Annie McConnell (b. Ireland)

The witnesses were A. Malcolm abd M.? Malcolm, both residing at 3250-32nd Ave. W., in Vancouver B.C.

The marriage was performed by R.J. Douglas a Presbyterian Minister (brides' denomination). The grooms denomination is given as Episcopalian.

The marriage was dissolved at New Westminster on 14 Jan 1949. The Registration no is 26-09-308410.

An electronic copy can be found at the Royal BC Museum: http://search-collections.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/Genealogy/DisplayGenealogyImage?k=b5e94e85-8432-4d85-8d7b-48589938bde5

According to his death registration (71-09-002974) George died at St. Mary's Hospital in New Westminster, B.C. of a transverse colon carcinoma on the 11th Feb 1971.

This record also indicates that Annie Stokes' middle name was Mary. George's complete date of birth was 14 Aug 1903, that he had emigrated to Canada around age 5 (abt 1908) and that at the time of death he had remarried a Ruby Warriner Palmquist. George and Ruby were residing at 257 Osborne Ave. in New Westminster.

He was buried on the 15 Feb 1971 at Sunnyside Lawn cemetery in Surrey B.C. The service was directed by the Woodlawn Funeral Home Ltd.

It should be noted that his occupation of Fireman given in the marriage record is likely someone working on trains - not a Fire Fighter. This is fairly clear from the fact that on the death registration he is listed as a former Diesel Engineer.

Other related information:

Henry Wilfred Whiting and Annie Stokes were married 25 Oct 1908 at Revelstoke, B.C. (Regn 1908-09-163501). Henry was born 27 Dec 1874 in England and Died 30 Sep 1955 of Carcinoma of pancreas. (Death Regn 55-09-010323). Like his son he is buried at Sunnyside Lawn. This record gives Annie Mary Stokes' name as "Anne Margaret". Henry's parents are James Edward Whiting of England and Sarah Lambert of Ireland.

The informant on Henry's death registration is a daughter W. (?)ully possibly Sully, who is at the time residing in Trepanier B.C.

The family on line 31-35 of this census page are the Whiting family detailed above: http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1911/jpg/e001937843.jpg.

There is Henry, Annie, George and a Girl named W. The birth years and locations given in the previous records correspond with this census entry. Henry's occupation as a horticulturalist corresponds to the death registration which gives his trade as "Gardener". The year of emigration is given as 1908 as previously calculated. From this record we now know the eldest daughter's name is Winnifred and there is at least another son named Edmond.

There are some other Whiting's also buried at the Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery, however I cannot confirm if they are related.

Also:

Parents, Henry and Annie are married in 1908. (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11589-4492-25?cc=1307718&wc=MMYG-JBW:839765019)

In this record Annie is born in England not Chicago.

Just to highlight a point for further research:

Given that son George is born 1903, and that Henry and Annie didn't marry until 1908 when they arrived in Canada, it is possible that Annie is not George's biological mother, or alternatively that George and Annie had a child out of wedlock and then left for Canada.
