James Jeter Hedden was born on July 1, 1893, in Jackson County, North Carolina. He married Emily Irene Whitaker on July 4, 1918, in Henderson County, North Carolina. In 1920 he is recorded as a Foreman in the Lumber Industry. In 1930 he is a Superintendent at Carr Lumber Co. In 1940 he is a Farmer and self employed, James and Irene had four children: Virginia, Sarah, Sonny and Jimmie, Jr. He died in April 1965 in Pickens County, South Carolina, at the age of 71, and was buried in Pickens, South Carolina.
