How do you properly add records found on Ancestry.com or other genealogy search web sites?

I need to add several records and links to profiles I have on ancestry.com and I need to site my sources. Is there a "form" for adding census records, county records and images for users that do not have a paid subcription.

I understand how to provide a link , but I wanted other to see the information not avaible to the "public".

I use (sorry if this is considerd an advert, as it isn't meant to be) EasyBib ( The free automatic bibliography and citation generator). It works for me and I ,so far, have only had to use the free version, I find it easy to use and it works.

If you're interested the URL for it is pasted below.

Hello Tammy, Great Question. Any way other than what everyone has been doing would be fine. ;-)

Nothing worse than looking at a source that everyone can not see with out paying for only to find out the link is no longer valid.

Best to make sure the data is worth dealing with first. If someone says something without sources, I would not use it.

Try to copy, type or capture a picture of the data. Post it any way you like no format restrictions.

Watch for copy right infringement. If you copy or type historical facts only, its ok.

Use a standard citation format, original source information. And then perhaps a link to persons site that assisted you. (If he used sources, only fair to source him for his work. )

Will add a link to citations to assist.

A little bit of everything at this page as a sample:

It is not perfect yet, perhaps some ideas.
There use to be ancestry.com  sources, all had to be erased. Nothing of any value.
I welcome, Email or private messages with any specific questions. Would be hard to list everything hear.
Sincerely,
Mike

Ancestry.com has changed a bit.  I notice when I click on a source it now provides sharing information.  For instance this is an 1850 census record for one of my ancestors.  I click on the share twitter link and this URL is provided  http://tinyurl.com/9x7mb4g Please take a look and see if it is publically available.

hi Ed, I do not have an account w Ancestry.com but when I clicked on the url you gave and I got the document - so I assume open to the 'public' - it looks as you are right :)
That is excellent.  Sounds like it will work up until ancestry.com makes some other change.
That is excellent!
I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but I think those shared records are only visible for like a week. :( One time I was at the library, using Ancestry Library Edition, and I shared some records with myself by emailing them to myself, and after a week or so I couldn't open them anymore.
I believe that they've made signficant changes in the last few months.  I've reread the Ancestry help files and they are quite actively promoting record sharing.  It's easy enough to check as I've included a share in this question.  Check back on it in a few weeks then we'll know for sure.
