Did you ever figure out who completed the connection to Cohen?
Great job everyone!
47 - am I in the running for the most distant connection?!
36 degrees, through my sainted grandpa as usual...mighty darn proud to be connected at all! Hallelujah!
41 degrees for me.

37 degrees from Leonard.

What a wonderful talent. I studied his poetry in high school before he ever released a record album. Just bought his latest album two weeks before he died.

He will be missed.

Me, too, Dave!

I recently heard a TED talk radio hour that had a segment about Hallelujah! and how it has becomes its own entity. It apparently took Leonard a decade (?) or so to "finish" it, and it didn't become a hit until Jeff Buckley recorded it.

(This is all from memory. So, I hope I'm not misrepresenting what I heard.)

That is my recollection as well. He took a lot of time crafting his work. I like a lot of the versions but I think that my favourite cover of Hallelujah is KD Lang's.
I'm not sure I've heard that version before! I'll have to go look for it. Thanks!
Found it, Dave! Loved it!
Yes, KD Lang is not always my cup of tea. But she absolutely nailed this. She performed it at the Vancouver Olympics as well.

Right now there are 35 steps and six marriages in our closest path. I always like to see if we can tighten up the connections as we go. Who wants to help? :-)
