Looking for Schneider - Jokel marriage @1755 in Germany; this is my missing link in the Schneider line back to Germany.  Perhaps his first name was Johannes; his wife's first name may be Catherine - or variations of these.

Their so, Johannes Schneider (born 1757), was a Hessian soldier who came to Canada in 1777 and stayed there after the Revolutionary War in America. He married a French Canadian, Marie Marguerite Riel. They lived at Laprairie St Phillipe, Quebec. He died 1827 @ Laprairie. I have the Schneider/Snyder line forward from that time to the present.

I found this comment on Ancestry next to a marriage record that may be his (Jean Baptiste may be the French version of his Prussian name);

Jean Baptiste Schneider m. Marguerite Riel on 18 Jan 1790 at St-Philippe, Laprairie. His parents were the late Jean Baptiste Schneider and the deceased Catherine Lockel of the parish of sote province de solt/folt? en allemagne. Her parents were Jean Baptiste Riel and the deceased Angelique Bailliarjon (should this be spelled Baillargeon?) of this parish. Present were Ignace Roy, Francois Robert, groom's friends, Jean Baptiste Riel, father, Pierre Riel, bride's brother

Name: Jean Baptiste Schneider

Doug Lockwood,  Thanks for the source information on the marriage of my ancestor Johannes (Jean Baptiste) Schneider.  This was very helpful.

I found this record on www.familysearch.org. I found a number of different spellings of the last names, (ie., Jokel, Joekel, Jockel, Joeckel, Joeckels, etc. As well as different spellings for Johannes and Catharina, Katarina, etc. Perhaps this may help you in your search, if you haven't looked at these records before. If I can be of any further help, please let me know. Here is one example:
