Charlotte, where did you find the non census data?
Thanks for the information but right now we are trying to find what happened to charles valentine after 1910 when he left Jessie and reappeared in 1949
Please provide more detail. You said he disappeared (presumably in Buffalo) in 1910, then re-appeared in 1949. Where?
Charles disappeared after 1910. He used to lived with Jessie in Buffalo, on that time frame. Jessie married later on to delmar decker. Charles re-appeared in 1949-1950, the story that my dad in law and I know is that he was living in a veterans house in California but later on he said to the people of the veterans home that he was going back to see his family in Buffalo. He passed away on November 25 1950. He is buried elmlawn cemetery in Kenmore, NY. You can contact me thru my normal e-mail. baldwin.gabriela@yahoo.com

Here's a possibility in the 1930 census:

Charles Valentine Silverton, San Juan, Colorado born abt 1887 birthplace
Pennsylvania
roomer

Quite possibly the same Charles Valentine of the 1930 census immediately above could be this one in 1920:

Charles Valentine Idaho Springs, Clear Creek, Colorado b abt 1887 born Pennsylvania Servant

I didn't realize you were trying to find him after a certain year.. I read the request as trying to find information of possible living relatives of Charles' so, that was my help.

There were two different Charles Henry Valentines who registered for the draft during WWI. (Note: registering doesn't mean they served.) Based on what you've said so far, I don't think either of these is him?

  1. CHV b 23 May 1885; registered in Baltimore; carpenter living in Baltimore. "White." Nearest relative Mrs. Alice Irene Valentine at same address (122 East Ostender St.)
  2. CHV b 2 May 1882; living in Dublin, Pulaski Co., Virginia. "Negro." Farm laborer. Nearest relative Mrs. Alice [!] Valentine of same town.
