Question

The British Isles Politicians Project and the Collaborative Profile of the Week Present:
Sir Julius Caesar (1557-1636)

In the run up to the Christmas/Holiday period let's look back at someone whose ambition was to hold the purse strings of Queen Elizabeth 1st and
King James: Sir Julius Caesar.

 

1. Did he achieve his political goal of becoming Chancellor of the Exchequer?
2. Did he give generously or was he a Scrooge?
3. What was his connection with the Royal Mint?
4. We need help connecting his parents: Who were they?
5. He married three times and had seven sons and at least one daughter. Do we have profiles for any of his wives or children?

This is a collaboration for all WikiTreers. Give us a hand. Let us know what you would like to work on (it doesn't have to be on the list) by answering the question. An answer helps keep the question "fresh" and helps to eliminate duplication of work. You can then add information directly to the profile. Make sure you add the source also. Happy to see this. This family are in my tree because I descend from his sister, and the duplicates (which I worked on) have more sourcing and the merge will explain a lot when completed. As of now his father is not done. [[Adelmare-1]] tells a lot.

Thanks Andrew, The Google Books copy totally messed up scanning the pedigree at the beginning. I've noticed before that whoever scans these books seems to be clueless when it comes to folded pages.

Thanks Anne and RJ.  We seems to have duplicate profiles for him and both his parents.   TIme to merge - I'll have a look.  That's a different beginning to collaborative profile of the week !!

Julius Caesar, another Italian with English descendants. Why is this knowledge important...because cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart to be brief) affects many Italians. Persons of English ancestry are unlikely to know that they are at risk.. sudden deaths among well-conditioned athletes are well publicized. Answer: Genetic screening. Do it now!
