Why is the Red G+1 embedded on each page?

Each and every profile or free space has a Red G+1 button embedded on it; yet, I am not finding an explanation in the Help Index or g2g of the purpose.

Does anyone know where the explanation is?  Also while searching projects I found the Integrators Project and when clicking that tag it goes to https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/tag/integators.

I've also noticed that profiles of team members and people in https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:MatchBot_MPs do not have the button.

Observations made using Chrome browser and Windows 7 platform.

It should add the page to google +, but doesn't seem to be working. Clicked it on several profiles and nothing happened :/
I just tried it. It worked for me. See https://plus.google.com/+DaphneMaddox/posts/7pceH6K4wgo .
