How to avoid errors in making or using categories

I just spent the morning cleaning up category errors of mine. I neglected a comma and then the category did not match the approved category. They call them Misnamed categories. In my case it was just a typo, but I had about 40 of them.

So you who are using categories watch your punctuation. A missing comma caused the above problems.

That is why I started copying and pasting category names instead of trusting myself to remember them.
Be careful even doing that that you get both side bars .

I check my =self by going after I close edit and observe the results. I've caught several that way. Better results means a better Wikitree.

Good luck and thanks for replying.

This is what troubles me about learning categorization. I (most of us) learn things by trial and error. For me, it is sometimes systematic trial and error to see what works. I'm reluctant to try because of the trail of mistakes left behind. I understand there is a policy for not deleting stuff (profiles, categories, etc.) but it is intimidating. As I go through categories and links I see things that look like tests or mistakes and a lot that I wonder if it is legitimate (or useful, shall I say?). The clutter is hard to navigate.
