It is a Masonic symbol. I have seen it used by many non-Masonic organizations, usually as a symbol of learning; e.g. school year books.

I do know that many local Lodges support their area school yearbooks.

 I am not aware of any organizations that use the masonic symbol other than Lodges, Eastern Star, DeMolay International, Rainbow Girls.

The above are the only organization that are authorized to use these symbols, that I am aware of.
