Would "McGhie" be included?

Yes, I believe it would. "John McGhie, had sasine of Balinaghie, 10 May, 1704. He m. Isobel Gordon (Dumfries Sets., 17 May, 1712), youngest dau. of Alexander, Viscouut Kenmure, by his third wife, Lady Grissel, dau. of James, Earl of Galloway. He had by her Alexander, of whom follows ; and William. - THE BOOK OF MACKAY BY ANGUS MACKAY, M.A. (St. Andrews University) Minister at Westerdale, Caithness EDINBURGH : NORMAN MACLEOD, -25 GEORGE IV. BRIDGE CANADA : EDWARD MACKAY, ST. PETER'S MANSE, MADOC, ONT. M DCCCC VI [1906] The Book of Mackay By Angus Mackay pg. 350"

I just made a McKey and McKee name study if anyone interested in it. Asking for volunteers for these surnames.

Hi Beth,

I don't think they have one for those names yet but you can recheck here:

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Category:One_Name_Studies&from=Space:M

However if you would like, you could create one by following the instructions here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:One_Name_Studies#How_to_Create_A_One_Name_Study_Project_Page

Thanks so much! I don't see any name that would fit. I'll have to think about starting one.
Beth I have Mackie in my line.  A Great Great Grandmother.  Catherine Mackie mother of Charles Cordiner Kerr born July 25, 1847 Lonmay Aberdeenshire, Scotland.  Married William Kerr May 27, 1842 in Lonmay, Aberdeenshire, Scotland  I don't know more than that at this time.  But would be interested in doing more research into Mackie line.  So I would assume she was born before 1832.

I have had DNA autosomal test done at FTDNA and have also uploaded data to Gedmatch and MyHeritage.  So if you have done DNA we can compare them.

Laura
Thanks Laura, We'd have to go back many generations before Catherine to find any connection to the McKee lineage that connects to my daughter through her dad (my ex). Plus, I don't yet know the ancestors of Andrew McKee b.ca. 1697 in Northern Ireland, immigrated to MA ca. 1707, died 1765 CT.

Unfortunately, no DNA to compare as neither my daughter nor her dad are interested in taking any tests.

If you'd like, you can check periodically on Andrew McKee's profile McKee-743  to see if/when I discover his ancestry. Perhaps you too will find Catherine's and we can see how they were related.

all the best!

Beth

A Google Group has been formed by Vickie Dodd-Edgerton to study the McKee families with all of their various surname spellings. Please join us! https://groups.google.com/d/forum/mckee

Sorry I do not do Google Groups.  I would join one here on WikiTree.
oh, okay, Laura. If you create a group here, please announce.

It says:

This is only a preview. Changes have not yet been saved.

wonderful! I'm guesing Dorothy Barry's comment below yours means it's not quite ready, but I'll check it out. Thanks so much, Laura!
I did open a one name study late yesterday.  I am finally heading to bed for a couple of hours of sleep.  I am in serious elf mode right now so on and off the computer.  I am hosting Christmas Eve starting a little afternoon for my family this year.  So there may be a delay for me to answer quickly.  The one name study is called:  Mackie_Mackay_orMcKay_and_variants
haha "serious elf mode" - I certainly understand! Enjoy your family Christmas Eve and all of the holidays. Perhaps you could post back here when you've time to officially launch the Mackie, et. al study group? Thanks so much, again, Laura!
Hi Beth, I left  a note on the google site, but I'd prefer to be contacted through the email below

Thanks,

Ros

Should also Include McKay

There's no category for a MacKay Name study.  Just a clan.  Not everyone named MacKay was a clan.  So is this an actual name study or just a page?
