I think this will help:
In the 1920 Census for Manhattan City, Riley County, Kansas were: Mildred Moon, Mildred Moon, head of household age 35, born in Kansas. Father born in Illinois, mother born in Sweden. Daughter, Violet, age 11, born in Kansas; daughter Flossie Moon, age 10.
In the 1930 Census for Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana were: George Culbertson and wife Mildred. Mildred was born in Kansas, father in Illinois, and mother in Sweden.
Coincidence? I think not. George married the widow, Mildred Moon, and adopted Mildred's daughter, Flossie, who at age 20 was out of the household.
