How the dickens can I add my family tree to this site?

I signed on as a guest member and am trying  to enter information about my immediate family, but finding it next to impossible because someone else has already entered them into the system.  I find that strange since both of my parents were technically "only children"  -- it would seem that I should be able to enter and/or edit their information!!

Have you contacted the profile manager to see what relationship they may have with them (if any) and let them know you are a relative? Can you share the profile ID numbers so we can check out the privacy settings etc. You may have to ask to be placed on the trusted list which is another reason to contact the profile manager.

If they are already in the system, you can connect to them and edit their profiles, once you are on the trusted list.  

You need not (and should not) re-enter them into the system.  You can add sources and correct any facts that need correcting on the existing profiles.  

As Dorothy said, you need to contact the profile managers.

As a Guest member you are very limited with what you can edit on WikiTree. If you sign the Honor Code and volunteer to be a full member then you should be able to add profiles as well as edit any Open profiles. Membership is free so why not just join as a full member and enjoy working on the profiles that you have better information for.  I see that you have already volunteered and your account has been confirmed, so try again but remember unless the privacy is set to Open with the lock in white and unlocked you will have to either ask to be on the trusted list or send your information to the profile manager.
