The Connectors Project and Collaborative Profile of the Week Present
Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington

Edward Ellington "Duke" Ellington (1899 – 1974) was an American composer, pianist, and jazz bandleader.  Listen Here.

1. Let's get Duke connected.
2. He has parents and family. Do they have sources? Basic Bios?
3. He had a musical background. What was it?
4. How and when did he get his nickname?
5. A summary of his career would be a nice addition to his biography. Would someone add to what's there.
6. What else would you like to add to his profile?
7. If you add photos, please make sure they are public domain and attribute them properly.

It's easy to contribute to this weeks Collaborative Profile. Choose a topic, it doesn't have to be listed. Post an answer first (to avoid duplication of efforts and to keep the question fresh). You can add information directly to the profile with inline sources. You can just list the source right after the facts. Highlight it, and click on the  Cite your source with an inline reference button.

Connectors Project

The Connectors Project on WikiTree focuses on connecting the unconnected cousins and branches around WikiTree, in hopes of having as many profiles connected to the main "trunk" as possible. This is done through quality research, much sourcing, and a lot of time. We welcome anyone to join us! Our primary task list comes from the Unconnected categories and lists created by the Database Errors project. We have a monthly Connectors Challenge, are associated with the Connection Combat Challenge, and do a lot of talking on our Connectors Chat page.

Thank you

I've added what I could find. Thank you for the encouragement!
Thank you, Anne! Now features on the home page.

Is this our last Collaborative Profile of the Week?
Yes Chris. This is the last one.
Thank you again, Anne, for so generously leading the Profile of the Week for two years. The contributions you've made here to WikiTree are immeasurable.

I added a source for his WWI draft registration.  Who knew that he worked for the federal government when he was 19?

I didn't know that, until you just told me.

A lot of people were working quietly behind the scenes on this profile and the profiles of his family. Thank you all.

I found Mercer's wife, but couldn't find any parents to help with a connection. Perhaps someone else will have better luck. Her LNAB is supposed to be Scheid.
