Do you have gateway ancestors to Royalty?

My gateway ancestor is Thomas Jernigan of Somerleyton, who came here in the 1630's-1640's. He was a descendant of King Edward I and Eleanor of Castille through his paternal great-great-great-great-grandmother, Bridget Drury, a daughter of Sir Robert Drury and Anne Calthorpe.

If anyone would be willing to help me or if I can help anyone with their royal pedigree, feel free to let me know, and we can do a project together.

Hello Derek, and welcome to Wikitree.  There are a couple of projects that already exist that are deal with royal pedigrees that you might be interested in joining.

One is the European Aristocrats project, commonly called EuroAristo that looks at all European royal and noble families, and the other is the Magna Carta project, that has the aim of connecting the Magna Carta signatories forward to any gateway ancestors.

Although like any project on Wikitree, anyone can join, I guess most people who do so, either have a connection back to royal/noble families themselves or have an interest in such connections.

Because in Wikitree's past, anyone could download a gedcom with no questions (or sources), a key role for both projects is making sure that profiles have good sources, and you will find quite a few questions on the G2G forum with the tags euroaristo or magna_carta where people ask for assistance about various profiles.  Currently EuroAristo also has a mini project looking at Edward III and his descendants for 5 generations and again adding sources to the profiles.

If you are interested in finding out more, or joining either or both of these projects, you can contact me about the EuroAristo project and either Chet or Jayme about Magna Carta.

Because of the hard work on the part of my maternal Uncle and Aunt,  Herbert and Bernice Roberts ,  I have a great family tree that goes back to King Edward and further.  The family comes to USA  with Richard Williams b 1606 who married Frances Deighton  born 1611.     Does this help ?
