Profile not public so it cannot be adopted

Question

I created a profile.

I removed myself.

I later want to adopt it (as it invites me to) so I can edit it.

"The profile is not public so it cannot be adopted."

But as someone else says - it's a Catch 22.

I changed the profile to open, so you can adopt it.

Was it Private when you removed yourself?

I cannot recall - it probably was, due to the children not having death dates. I have now adopted it, made an amendment and reset the privacy to orange again. But I am in two minds whether to remove myself, else I (or hopefully others) will want to adopt or edit it in future. Oh, well, my burgeoning Watchlist continues to grow! Thank you.

No. That is the living person. It has to be private. You can only adopt it.

It will not let me adopt it. That is why I posted here. It seems that a living person cannot be adopted.

You've already done so, but for future issues, if there is a private orphan, you can email info@ wikitree .com to ask for help. We're happy to have people step up to care for them. Otherwise, send a trusted list request to the current manager to be added to the trusted list. Private profiles cannot be adopted otherwise, in order to protect their privacy.
