Why avoid changing geneology to genealogy?

It can easily be done. So why is it not done?

I believe Sir William is referring to misspellings in the text of profiles. I've seen a lot of instances of "geneology" (many of them from one large gedcom import that cited somebody's "geneology"). It's only one of many misspellings in profile text ("descendant" is also chronically misspelled -- as "descendent," "decendent", and even as "decedent"). I correct "geneology" when I'm editing a profile that includes that misspelling, but I fear that I probably add as many new typos as I fix.

The db-errors program has only limited ability to check text outside of the data fields, so for now we're dependent on eyeballs to detect most errors.
