Sidney B. Mills was born in Vermont about 1827, migrated to Ohio where he was married to Harriet Prentiss (who was born in 1929 in New York) in 1848 in Medina County, Ohio. He and his wife, Harriet, are found in the 1850 census living with his brother, Ebenezer, in Cuyahoga, Ohio. He is found in the 1860 census in Big Ax County living with his wife, his daughter ann and his two sons, John E. and George W. (my ancestor). He is found in the 1870 and 1880 federal censuses living in Michigan. Ann apparently died before 1870, but John E. and George W. appear in the 1870 census. In the 1880 census, another daughter, Lettie, age 10 appears. Sidney and his wife moved to South Dakota (Aurora County) about 1882 and are listed in the 1900 cnesus Sidney's wife, Harriet, shows up in the South Dakota 1905 census as widowed. Harriet shows up in the 1910 federal census living with her son (John E.) and his family. Harriet doesn't show up in the S.D. 1915 state census.
