Donnie Osmond wants to see if he is related to his fans

Question

Donnie Osmond is posting the question "Are We Related" on his website http://donny.com/are-we-related/ .  I could not check it the way he wants us to try but I did check it on WikiTree and got this result Donald and Dale are 19th cousins.

Considering that the Osmonds are a LDS family and their tree has been fairly well researched, I decided to see if I could build an alternate path for connections. I think I've got a new path in there through Rulon's sister, Clara, to her husband Adam Welker, and out through his Pugh line.

Not sure if the Relationship finder builds on the fly, but this didn't change my count at all. I'll check it again tomorrow to see if this had any impact on my connection.

Eric, Since the goal of WikiTree is to prove that we are all connected having zero connection should not make you pleased but rather sad. That being said even without a blood relationship you are still connected to both him and me, use the connection finder.

No, I was correct in what I said. I have 0 CONNECTIONs to Donald. I used the Connection Finder tool.

I'm not sure why you are "relieved", but I would like to say something on Mr. Osmond's behalf. Whether you are a fan of his work or not (I'm not), he has had plenty of fans over the years, including a hit TV show that ran for several seasons. It's not like he's a child molester or war criminal. And I have it on good authority that he treats the people who work for him well and is generally good company and fun to be around.

Donny Osmond & I are 9th cousins, so I'm the closest related on this thread. (Tied.)

Eric, it's perfectly fine to feel relieved.  I'm not related to him either.  My Aunt Norma Jean, though, born a Romney, is his 11th cousin.  I'll probably email that to my cousin Matt.  Although I forgave Donny Osmond for being his cheerful self because he appeared in that video with Weird Al, I too, am relieved.

Eric, you and I are 11th cousins. Same as Donnie and I. Now you got me thinking I am Al's 5.5 cousin. The fact that he did Al's video makes me more of a "fan" b/c he has a sense of humor.

I am not a fan either, I just got notified of his project thru the familysearch Facebook page. I have hundreds of LP's 45's Reel to Reel tapes Cd's and cassette tapes but none by any of the Osmond family.

That does not clarify anything. My music collection ranges from Hard Rock to Classical with some Country and Opera sprinkled in. I just never bought anything by them partially because they did not become popular until I had most of my collection assembled.  I spent a great deal of time in a recording studio control room with one of my High School friends where we met a lot of Rock artists in the late 60's and early 70's, in fact he went on to win several Grammy's for Best Recording Engineer and is listed as one of the pioneers of Surround Sound, but he has drifted to more Classical and i have still maintained my appreciation for all musical style's.

No relationship on here, nor connection.

On Family Search however there was supposed to be a path via my ggg Mary Leeson (not surprising since her cousin became a Mormon and went to Utah with her husband) I wouldn't have been surprised if there were some relationship through her descendants there,

But no the path went back, beyond the last  generation I know of and can be sourced (ie at the time the parish register runs out) through a miscellany of as far I can see unrelated people  (b in one place, marrying in another part of the country and dying in another place) It reached the supposed common ancestor and then the path went forwards.

So family Search 'says' there is a relationship, but I don't believe that particular one exists.

Apparently we are 16th cousins, three times removed, but at least one of his ancestors on Wikitree has a relationship to parents that is extremely doubtful.

We are both related to Donny Osmond through the same ancestor, 9th cousins both. Closest on the thread, so far. You and I are more closely related yet, 8th cousins through the Dana line.
