Anyone interested in joining a new project: [[Space:Wagon_Train_Roadtrip_1884]]

One of my family's memoirs captured my imagination to the point where I wanted to flesh out the surrounding space and time. Who would throw their family into a wagon train and traipse across three states for three months to see if the farmland was better on the other side? The memoir is an anchor but the plains states were vastly different then; what fact-based side bars reveal the differences?

I plan to plug along on this project myself, but I would be interested in a more crowd-based authoring style if we can make it work.

Hi Roger,

Sounds like an interesting idea.  Have you checked out the Westward Ho Project?  I believe I am a member of that project because I manage a profile who belongs to the Oklahoma Land Rush Project.  The Westward Ho Project has many sub-projects.  Depending on where the trip took place, there might be additional projects with people who might be interested in your new project.

Excellent information generally, and terrific historical context. As an aside, I think I just missed being related to John Wesley Morris, the author of some really interesting historical texts on Oklahoma. I'll troll the Westward Ho pages for a while, at the very least. My family's summer vacation doesn't fit directly into anything I've seen yet, but in so much good material, I'm sure there's something directly applicable.

Thanks again,

Roger A. Shepherd
