Looking for the parents of Orange Bowen and Julie (Ballon) Bowen of Montcalm County, Michigan

Question

I am new here, so please forgive me if I didn't do this right!

Orange Bowen was born in New York September 22, 1819. We know his father was born in Canada Eng. (?) and his mother's last name was Peck. She was also born in New York. All we know about his wife Julie is that her last name was Ballon, and she was born in New York. We have found no other records. We do know they were more than likely married in New York due to the fact that at least two of their children were born there. They settled in Montcalm county, Michigan sometime in the early to mid 1840's. If anyone can help we would greatly appreciate it

I'm sorry, it was their son William who settled in Montcalm county. Orange and Julie settled in Spencer Township, Kent county, Michigan

What you have posted is the only information we have been able to find about his parents other than the 1900 census of Croton twp., Newaygo co., Michigan where it says his father was born in Canada Eng., and his mother was born in New York. I believe the 1900 census also stated that he was born in 1912, but in fact he was born in 1819. Thanks for your help though :)

Yes, we have actually been to the cemetery and visited this grave. William and Egbert were Orange's sons. William was our great great grandfather and he was married to Lucy Probasco. Her parents, John and Rosanah Probasco, donated the land for this cemetery.

Do you know if he had a younger brother Henry? These parents last names seem to match those on Orange's death record.

Unfortunately we have no information about siblings. We actually found this also, but were unsure about it because of the 21 years between the births of Henry and Orange

There is something else I just thought of that may or may not be of some help or interest...there was a booklet put together by several members of the different branches of the Orange and Julie Bowen family. It was researched during the 1970's and handed out at the 1979 family reunion. Anyway, there is a story in there about 11 Bowen brothers that came to the U.S from Ireland, there is no dates or names given, but at the time the booklet was written it was questioned whether or not Orange could have been one of those brothers, but now we know that he was not. We have not found any evidence of this story, but if it is true, we have wondered if maybe his grandfather may have been one of the 11 brothers.
