Wesley Phillips b. 1824 Virginia d. about 1855 Ohio / m Jane Abigail Kelloggs

Question

I've came to a dead end on the Phillips side of my family.

I'm looking for information on my 3rd g-grandfather, Wesley Phillips. The most I can find on him is that he was born in Virginia (source 1850 Census), he lived in Pleasant, Hardin, Ohio in 1850. He married Jane Kellogg in 1846 in Hardin, Ohio. She was born in Massachusetts. They had 3 sons; Nelson, David, and Benjamin. He died before the 1860 Census since Jane and the boys were living with Luther Kellogg and his family in Clinton, Iowa.

His son Nelson is my family line.

Are you sure that he died before 1860 because he was not in that census, or is there a possibility that they went their separate ways for some reason.

Hello Ramona,

1860 was a very turbulent year, the start of the civil war.
Look in the Union Army, that is probably where you will find him.
