If we read document Timeline we get the feeling Chris started this "small" journey 10 years ago .... interesting is also to listen to the video were Chris explains Why Wikitree

Early 2007: After his website FAQ Farm (WikiAnswers) becomes part of Answers.com, Chris starts to explore how to open his family tree website to more people. The first challenge is privacy. How can people share the same family tree yet maintain privacy? The solution will eventually become what are now known as Trusted Lists.

"September 2007: Chris begins to work on WikiTree full-time after leaving WikiAnswers/Answers.com."

And we are SO glad he did!  -NGP
I loved how Mags opening question " Why WikiTree " made him stop and think about the great answer, especially about the "mission" of why genealogists come to this site.

Video: I like the comment "so you created WikiTree to get less problems"

Yes, agree, Magnus, that's a funny line !
Chris,

It's good that you opened the door and provided direction as the project took off and expanded so much.

Chris, Thank You for your work and vision.

Absolutely delighted that Chris had his vision and created WikiTree. Because of him I have found my genealogical home and hope to be here for many years to come.

Thank you Chris!
Thank you for this post, Magnus. And thank you for the very kind words, Shirley, Jerry, Frank, Maggie, and Nanette.

I hope to be working with you all on WikiTree for many, many years to come.

@Chris I think you are a good source for when it started. Is it 2008 or 2007. We have 2008 on Wikipedia

Maybe we can have 10 years party both 2017 and 2018?

:-)

I think we should save the party for 2008. Early planning doesn't count.
Thank you to Chris and all of you who have been around for years.  You have made WikiTree a great place for genealogists.

Brilliant! Sort of the Henry Ford among dispossessed genealogists! Thank you, Chris!
