Do you have any connections with the Stone Farmhouse of Rapho Township?

Hello, I live in a stone farmhouse in Rapho Township, Pa, that apparently is connected to the Horst Family. The Mill that is connected to this house was once called Horst Mill, now called Risser Mill. My question is about the Horst Family. There is a private burial site about 100 yards from our house that has the Horst Family, Greenawalt Family and Brandt Family buried there. Do you have any information that you can give me regarding the Horst Family? Was this house actually built in 1780? Was there another burial site on the property? How long did the family live here? Do you have any obituaries; did anyone give birth/die in the house? Thank you for your cooperation, Heather

You could check this site,   http://archive.org/stream/cu31924028852998/cu31924028852998_djvu.txt  It's a biographical annal of Lancaster Co., PA of early settlers.

It has Rev. Abraham Horst, p. 159; David S Horst, p 517: John C. Horst, p. 279 and Mrs. Louisa Horst, p. 279.

PS Do any of the tombstones have full names and birth and death years?

There is a Rapho Township history at: http://www.raphotownship.com/rapho/cwp/view.asp?a=3&q=430426&tx=1

Also,

http://hubertree.com/huber/f1105.htm

has several references for Horst family members living in Rapho Twp. You may want to make contact with someone at the http://www.hubertree.com/lineage.html site as there are several "Brandts" listed in the surname index.

EDIT: added /lineage.html to hubertree URL
I have taken pictures of some tombstones. There is a tombstone which states the name Henry C. Horst, son of Peter Horst, born 1816. Father Peter Horst is also buried there, born 1787 I believe. There are quite a few baby tombstones as well. Christena is buried there. She was born July 26, 1795, died 1870.
1850 Fed Census PA, Lancaster Co., Mount Joy [mile or two from Rapho Twp - bjv]

Peter Horst, age 73 (b ~1787)
Christianna, age 55 (b ~1795)
David, age 24
Elizabeth, age 22
Do you know anything about the house itself? Any obituaries that I can find? There is an old map that showed another separate burial site on the property but the farmers have not confirmed that they have seen another one. Do you know if there were two actual burial sites on this property? Was this house part of the Underground Railroad?

I have some more pictures of the tombstones as well- Abraham's tombstone is in the burial site. Unfortunately it was hard to read the dates in which he was born/death. Eydia or Lydia S. Good, wife of Joseph G. Good, born March 26, 18--, died October 22, 19--. This tombstone was lying flat on the ground, words facing up, half covered in dirt. Joseph Horst, tombstone read an age of death at 82 years old. His tombstone looked the same as Lydia Good, fallen to the ground and very dirty. There is also a "Fanny?" Meckley, and it looks as though it reads "wife is Samuel Meckley", age was 55 years at death.

What type of family tree could you show me that connects all of these names together?

You might want to contact the Lancaster County Historical Society at:   http://www.lancasterhistory.org/  Their address and phone etc. are at the site.

Nearby Rapho, Manheim might also be an information resource at:  http://www.manheimpa.com/

[from all above it *MAY* be that Rev. Abraham Horst was the uncle to Peter and Abraham Horst. Rev Abraham was born and raised at Horst's Mill and, at the time of his death, Peter Horst lived there. Peter and Abraham Horst were the sons of Peter Horst, and (therefore) Rev. Abraham and Peter Horst (the elder) were brothers. Perhaps Peter (elder) Horst was also born and raised at Horst's Mill. Do you have records of the family living in the house itself? Apparently there is a house extreme adjacent to the Mill but I live up the hill in a farmhouse which is closer to the private burial site. There is no stone on house which states the year it was built or owners in that day that built it. Is this house still in connection to the Horst Mill? A Map of 1864 shows two names which may have been the owners- Henry and/or Michael Horst.

I have pictures of tombstones that are buried on the property. Do you have any information about the people who lived here that long ago?
