I have a reference to an Inquisition Post Mortem that should be archived as C 142/83/20, but it doesn't show up in the catalogue. And all the Help Desk can do is tell me that. I've searched by every set of keywords I can think of but nothing comes up, so I don't think it is there under another reference. The catalogue shows C 142/83/3 as the first of that collection and the next in sequence is C 142/83/150; I'm hoping that it is there but just not yet registered. But the only way to know is for someone to physically check.
closed with the note: National Archives staff checked, the reference doesn't exist.

Chris, it's not for Hugh Beaumont Esq, Wiltshire by any chance is it? That's catalogued as C 142/20/83

sorry misread number

No, it's for Bernard Jenyn of Surrey. The reference comes from A History of the County of Surrey: Volume 3. 1911. The other IPM references given there are all correct.

Strange, I can't find Bernard or the manor in the calendars either.  They're online via British History Online at http://www.british-history.ac.uk/search/series/inquis-post-mortem?query=&title=&page=2 if you haven't already looked.
