Can the public see a descendants list? And if not, why?

if you go to the family tree tab of any profile and scroll down slightly, you can click for a descendency chart. What anyone sees obviously depends on the privacy settings of each individual profile, so you might see "private daughter" on some profiles, ie the living and probably their deceased parents.
