Is it time to decide which John Wood profile is the husband of Margaret (Carter) Wood (1592 - abt. 1643) ?

There is extensive discussion in the narrative sections of John Wood-114 father of 3 children and John Wood-2330 father of 5 children. Does the PGM reference work provide sufficient info to resolve the differences in the parents and children attached to these 2 profiles ?

Since most of the profiles here seem to be mixtures of different people already, may as well just finish the job by merging them all.

Then start again from scratch.
Another approach is to build John Wood-114 with wives and children with reasonably good sources and remove them from John Wood-2330. That way the descendants of reasonably identified children and grandchildren, etc will have useful ancestors.

What information, if any, does the Great Migration series by Robert Charles Anderson provide for this family ? Thanks

Sheila,

What remains outstanding in terms of this thread? What still needs doing?

Thanks.
Jillaine,

Your Jun 2014 message on the profile "I see the merge with Wood-114 has been rejected. I actually do think they're the same person, but there are discrepancies that need to be clarified first...., but his origins-- at least as of 1966-- had not been documented, and the New Jersey death place is not accurate."

I do not have access to the PGM sources, which I hoped would provide info on his children. The extensive narrative in John Wood-114 lists the children so that would support merging the 2 profiles. Perhaps this year no one would object to the merge.

We need to start over.

John Wood married Margaret Carter Jan 28 1610, Southwark St Saviour,

Surrey,England.

Surrey Parish Transcripts. Now that we know where married,i will look for

John Wood birth.

Presumably 1610/1.  But these are very common names, and the population of London was about 200,000 or 250,000, estimates vary.  So without further info, there's no way of knowing if you're looking at the right baptism.

In the case of Margaret, unless the register distinguishes spinsters and widows, we don't even know Carter was her maiden name.
I think we have two different couples here-- the couple married in 1610 and a slightly later couple in Rhode Island.

Do we know for certain that these are the same couples?

This should resolve many questions regarding Margaret CARTER.
