Are you available to protect WikiTree on Tuesdays or Wednesdays?

Hi WikiTreers,

One of the essential groups in our community is the WikiTree Rangers. These are the members who take responsibility for protecting our free, shared tree in one or more hour-long shifts per week.

We need a Ranger on duty 24-7.

Right now, the Tuesday Ardenaires and the Wednesday Watchdogs are stretched thin. We also need a couple more Rangers for the Saturday Shamrocks team.

Rangering is easy. I do a shift myself with the Monday Monitors.

It doesn't take your full attention. You can do other things during your shift. You just need to check some key activity feeds every 10 minutes or so. If you spot a "forest fire," you report it.

We don't have a lot of big problems. Most Rangers don't spot anything worrisome. It's just that some problems can get much bigger if they're not stopped right away. That's why we need one member in charge of watching our tree around the clock.

The hard part about getting coverage is the coordination. You need to be there for your shift every week, or let someone know you can't make it.

Will you help?

The only requirements: You need to have been a member for at least three months, and need to participate in at least one other project or otherwise be active in the community. So we know you, and so you know the basics of WikiTree.

Please post here if you might be available. Any day of the week, really. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday are the biggest needs, but there are others.

After you post, Eowyn will contact you with more details.

Thank you!

Chris

Chris,

Looks like you're getting some volunteers, which is good. Ranger on.

Bob
Just added another shift. It's great to see all these people step up (-:  I am particularly interested in making sure that pre-1700 profiles are protected.
Thanks Maggie!
I'm definitely available during the evening on any of those days and also anytime during the day on Saturdays.

I have been a member for sometime and have been trying to be more active. I participated in the big source-a-thon last year and had a great time. I would love to get to know more folks here!!

Lori
I can help pretty much any day other than Sunday ...

Dan
But, what does a Ranger actually do???
I can help as well.  Let me know where the greatest need is.  I am in a project and Pre-1700 certified, working on Pre-1500
Hi Lori, Daniel and Sheryl, I sent you all messages to get you started.

Valma, the Rangers monitor various feed and watch for vandalism or people who are doing unintentional harm to the site.
I am not sure where your message is, but I can put in 3 hours either or both days for the hardest to fill times.

I am a night owl so prefer later evening/late night hours; just let me know what I need to do.

Thank you

Sheryl
I too am an Australian and willing to help out late Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
Eowyn

I don't see any messages from you.  Would you please send again to me?

I can committ to 2-3 hours on Wednesdays in the most needed time slot.

Thank you

Sheryl
*waves* ... I'd be very happy to help :) As long as it's between midday and midnight NZ time. I could help on more than one of those days too.
Hi Sheryl,

I'll re-send. Thanks!

I could handle a shift during the day on Tuesday or Wednesday.  I'm in Mountain Time, and could do it any time between 11:00 am until 5:00 pm on Tuesdays, or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm on Wednesday.  I can pretty much take my lunch hour any time I want.  Let me know what is involved before putting me down though.
