Can not find birth for my Dutch Family

Trying to find birth records for my van Vilsteren Family. All i can find is a few marriages and 2  births ( van_Vilsteren-11 and van_Vilsteren-13 ) Parents are Hermannus van Vilsteren and Anna Maria Francisca Wansink. On my old tree i have 7 children but can only find a birth for 2 of them. Can anyone find them?

Many thanks

 Carol

I hope this helps.  Let me know if you need help with translation.

Many Thanks. That's a great help. I should thought to look under Wansink but i didn't. When looking for a name like van Vilsteren should i enter the van first or after. e.g van Vilsteren or Vilsteren van?

I was wondering if i was searching wrong as i have been using the first example.

Thank you

Carol
When searching on Dutch sites use "van Vilsteren".

The wiewaswie.nl website is also available in English that's typically referred to as whowaswho.  Incidentally,  that site has 46 records for "Hermannus van Vilsteren" but there was probably more than one person with that name:  https://www.wiewaswie.nl/personen-zoeken/zoeken/q/Hermannus%20Van%20vilsteren

Here's a link to the advanced search entry on whowaswho:  https://www.wiewaswie.nl/en/search/advanced-search/
When searching Dutch surnames prepositions like 'van', 'de', etc. should either not be entered or be entered in a separate item called 'tussenvoegsel', 'prefix' or something like that. All indexes are sorted on the 'bare' surnames, so 'van den Berg' will be found at 'B', not at 'V'.

Note that the advanced search on wiewaswie is only available with a paid subscription. The basic search is available for free, but that is very basic indeed...

As son Johannes Hermannus was born in Amsterdam, I searched the Amsterdam City Archive (Stadsarchief Amsterdam). Note that post-1811 Amsterdam births and deaths are not indexed on wiewaswie.

I first found an entry in the population register: Bevolkingsregisters 1874-1893
Then I also searched the 10-years tables of Amsterdam births

In addition to Hendrika Fredrika Maria, born 1866-09-04 in Utrecht, in Amsterdam were born (links to birth certificates):

  1. Catharina Maria 1869-01-16
  2. Maria Johanna 1870-06-24
  3. Johannes Hermannus 1871-06-12
  4. Hendricus Antonius Johannes 1873-07-21
  5. Anna Maria Francisca 1875-11-05
  6. Elisabeth Johanna 1877-10-17
  7. Barbara Carolina Johanna 1879-10-14
  8. Johanna Barbara 1882-08-29

The members of the Dutch_Roots project here at wikitree are also very active.  Last week they collaborated to greatly expand a fellow wikitree member's Dutch branch.  Tag your G2G message with Dutch_Roots to make sure they see it.
Thank you Erik that is a great compliment to our group, And yes we have a great team at the Dutch_Roots_Project always willing to help. So please ask for help if needed. As you posted tagging us (with Dutch_Roots) at G2G will make your question visable to us. Thank you!

Thank you Pat! Any help is good. We use those sites too! :) But just to see if we can find the real docs.

Just keep in mind that forums and sites like MyHeritage are not asking for reliable sources. We use info from all genealogy sites as L E A D S. To help us to find the real sources. Info can be just copies of copies of copies. And we like to have proof. :) That s the WikiTree way. But if we can not find better we use what is available. But that is just as we can t find better and that hardly happens.

At the Dutch Roots we try to find the real and reliable sources and those active at our group know how to find and read them. Jan and Bea are our (verrrrrrrrrry best!!) leaders. They learned us how to find answers/info at the pages of the project and personal if needed. Join us please! :) [[https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/365805/join-word-lid-van-het-dutch-roots-project Join us!]]

Sweet regards from the Netherlands.

Happy Treeing!

A.
