What is the Corbet-40 Family Reunion? (Otherwise known as RootsTech)

+10 votes

While we were at RootsTech, Michael Stills decided that it would be cool if we could use the Relationship Finder to find a common ancestor for the 9 of us that were there to work the booth.

Sure enough - we found one!

Robert Corbet (Corbet-40).

Hence, why we renamed RootsTech "The Corbet-40 Family Reunion".

It's a fun story - you can read about here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Corbet-40_Family_Reunion

I wonder if you should rethink the whole Corbett 40 thing  Thomas Leighton -288 whom I am descended from, as I imagine many of you are was probably not the son of Robert Leighton and Anne Devereax  but of  Alexander Leighton the Scottish theologian  as clearly stated in Thomas's Wikitree biography  and History of Stafford County  (link in the comment of Thomas Leighton's page) Ironic  Anyways I would love to see some proof either way I think a lot more attention needs to be paid to cleaning up patently false genealogies some of which were disproved in the 19th century, than people editing  profiles to include forgotten commas
Thanks for explaining how we got Corbet in Connection Finder, Eowyn. For me, it's the first time that WikiTree has mapped a direct ancestral connection to a Connection Finder target.
Both of Corbet-40's grandmothers are the same person, give or take the usual random garbling.
At least neither of the two grandmother profiles shows descent from Charlemagne.

It's important to remember that this was an exercise done in fun, and we realize that the genealogy is potentially inaccurate.

As Michael so eloquently put it:

Now, while the facts of WikiTree may be disproven, the Truth of WikiTree remains, that we nine are family is true.
