 Mary Polly Clardy was born in 1772 in Halifax, Virginia, her father, Benjamin Clardy III, was 20, and her mother, Agnes Booth, was 17. She had 12 sons and 12 daughters with John Benjamin Clardy. She then married David Samuel Spearman and they had seven children together. She died in 1855 in Piedmont, South Carolina, having lived a long life of 83 years.
