I wanted to share this family photo of Charles Schneider with the community. Location: New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA. Date: probably about 1890.

He is my great-grandfather, and, unfortunately, I know very little about him. He died at the age of 24 from complications associated with tonsillitis, and my grandmother, his only child, was born several months later. I know so little about him, and my heart aches to learn more.

Such a handsome young man!

One site that you can check, unless you already have, is www.familysearch.org. A lot of the information on it is free or you can join as a member to upload your ancestors. You can find birth, death and marriage records. Military enlistment, pension, immigration, census, pedigrees.

But, note that not everything you might find there is 100% accurate and you may come across different spellings of name(s). I'll take a look and see if I can find anything for you, if so, I'll post it here for you, to at least get you started.

Oh wow, I just entered his name and only Pennsylvania and multiple entries came up for Charles Schneider in Penn. If you know his birth, death or marriage date. It helps narrow it down a bit. Also, you didn't state your grandmother's name, which would also help.

Handsome young man, sorry your grandmother didn't get to know him. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments. I have found some information on ancestry.com and also on familysearch.org. I have been able to find his death certificate, his marriage docket, and his grave on findagrave.com.

I know the names of his parents, Philipp Schneider and Philippena Sparrenberger. They are all buried in Indian Orchard Cemetery in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, USA. He had several siblings, and I have limited information that I have been able to learn about them. All of the information about my great-grandfather and his family members is available in my public family tree at ancestry.com.

His widow (my great-grandmother) is Cora Belle Funkhouser, who was born in New Brighton, Beaver, Pennsylvania, where they married. I would love to know how they met, as New Brighton is quite some distance from White Mills. My grandmother, their only child, is Charlotte Belle Schneider Schenk. I have begun building my family tree on WikiTree, but it is only a seedling and a work in progress compared to my tree on ancestry.com, which is quite extensive.

Unfortunately, I became interested in genealogy in the autumn of my life, and there is nobody left to ask about my ancestors. The last of my grandparents passed away when I was only 14 years old, my parents and all of my aunts and uncles are deceased, and I probably know more than any of my cousins.

Thank you, again, for your kindness and any assistance that you may be able to provide.

How sad he died so young what a terrible experience for your grandmother, and also you never got to know him. He is a very good looking man.

Thank you for sharing the photo and the story
