Do you know if he was married and had kids?

I found a 1870 Census that list a wife Elizabeth and Possibly a kid Julia

I got one Spouse Sarah Jane Maddox b. 1849 , he may have been married two or three times, sometimes I just don't know what to do with some of them.

Well what makes it difficult it could be 2 or 3 different people.

I know how do I find out, i went to the Confederate Museum today to look in the record's of my South Carolina family in Greenville, city. but I guess I will have to fugue out which one of the William S SMITH is the right one by getting all the residents he lived right?

That would be a great start. That museum sounds like it would be a great place to relax at for a few hours hope you enjoyed it. There may be also information on ancestry that would give more record or possibility of some books

Yes got to look in the books found my John Hiram Blackstone 1838 1913 it says J . H . Blackstone but just one in Pendleton District so it is possibly him , I'm sure it is his find a grave Memorial has him as Veteran but Tombstone doesn't,  if I join the organization I'm wanting to do things in the community he served as while, the other John H Blackston Confederate Soldiers that are listed has to be kin but can't fugue them out in the tree , only three served in South Carolina,  the Blackstone family may be from up north originally,  I don't know where they came from we just showed up in South Carolina in around 1820 Pendleton District  (Washington District)
