Don't know if it will help, but here's a list of circuses for that era.

Dawn ~

Looking at these 1920 and 1930 census records.  It appears that Earl may have been born a Dusenberry.  I don't yet get the implications here.  Are Mary and Edith the same woman?  Or perhaps not.  The census states that Charles Hopton didn't marry until he was 58.

Do you know how Mary and Edith are related?

Dusenberry I believe was Edith's first marriage.
I see.  So Mary and Edith are the same woman?  Is that right?

This record would indicate that they are the same woman.  And Jack Miller is listed as Edith Agnes Miller Hopton's father on her death cert.  So the question is...Who is Jack?

Name: Mrs Edith Duesenberry

I believe it goes like this : Edith was married to dusenberry before Charles and was Mary's, William and Roberts mom . Edith married Charles and that's when she had Earl, Harold, ray and garnet ?
Yes.  Edith's husband William Dusenberry died in 1909.  Edith Dusenberry and Charles Hopton were neighbors in the 1910 and 1920 census records.  And Charles was most likely the father of those children.  They may have been married, but not living together, yet.  It looks as if his mother was dependent on him.  Maybe he was supporting both households until his mother died.

Didn't find anything on Edith's origins other than Jack Miller listed as her father.

Good luck!
thank you so very much !
interesting....who is jack?
