Is there a way to generate a list of PGM profiles that contain "Disputed Origin"?

Ales,

Is it possible to generate a list of profiles where

{{pgm}} or {{PGM}} or {{Puritan Great Migration}} exists on the page

AND

"== Disputed Origins =="

also exists on the page?

This would generate a nice to do list for a piece of maintenance work that the PGM project wants to take on.

Thanks.

On Wikitree, searching for {{pgm}} or {{PGM}} or {{Puritan Great Migration}} is easy. it is 3000 and 500 of them.

http://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTWebProfileSearch/Profiles.htm?Query=Puritan+Great+Migration&MaxProfiles=5000&SortOrder=Default&PageSize=100

http://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTWebProfileSearch/Profiles.htm?Query=pgm&MaxProfiles=5000&SortOrder=Default&PageSize=100

You can even search to include other templates or categories or location or name. I didn't decide to add search by captions for now.

Is this list one time thing or do you wish to search it each week? If it is one time thing, I can prepare you a list.

There are templates uncertain_existence And Deprecated one (Questionable) with a few thousand each, but there is maybe 10 profiles with both pgm and Questionable

http://wikitree.sdms.si/function/WTWebProfileSearch/Profiles.htm?Query=PGM+Questionable&MaxProfiles=5000&SortOrder=Default&PageSize=10

How do you change the SortOrder, to, for example, Birth Year?

Has anyone told you lately that they love you? ;-)

Thank you, Ales.

This is definitely not a weekly need. This is at the moment a one-time run that we need.

I could imagine in the future a related need (slightly adjusted) to be run, say every six months.

But a one time list now would be trememdously helpful. Our Google searchj efforts only found about 100 such profiles.

Vic,

Start on Wikitree+ http://wikitree.sdms.si Select Search / All wikitree on the left, and there you can define also sort order.

Thanks.

Done. It is 213 of them.

Thank you.
Um.... (as I start working with this list...)

Anyway to get it in table format with Profile Manager(s) (e.g., Smith-12345) included?

(Sorry I didn't think of that before...)
I sent you Excel file by eMail.
Thank you, Ales!

(Actually, Aleš, I never received an email from you.)

I sent it to Yahoo email.

I sent it again to gmail email.

Sorry, not understanding, Magnus. How does this help me with my request?
I miss understood the scope... most of the profile you research are not in Wikipedia/Wikidata ==> you cant use Wikidata to generate reports...

Create a template and/or a Category so that you can easier find them inside WikiTree if you cant find them using WikiData

Maybe a Google search "Disputed Origins” site:Wikitree.com/wiki PGM gives about 231 profiles out of Puritan Great Migration ‎(3,563 members)

Profiles with PGM template = +2200

Problem with WIkiTree is the lack of Report generator saying give me all profiles with category x and Template y and not zzz. If you should do more advanced genealogy then creating on the fly reports/maps/timelines are important

Jillaine, I got a really good list of PGM profiles that have "Disputed Origins" as the first subsection by searching Google for:

site:Wikitree.com "puritan great migration" "1 disputed origins"

I have my search preferences set to display 100 matches, which makes it a lot easier to work with the results.

It doesn't work to search for the template code {{}}.  Google looks at the public page, not the source code.

Why "1 disputed origins" ?

I get the rest.

When i did a variation of this, i got a lot of g2g results that I didn't want.
The other reason I want a report, is so that I can copy/paste it into a google spreadsheet that the project can work on. Google results don't easily parse into a spreadsheet.
AND... your search phrase worked FAR better than my earlier efforts. Thanks!
I figured out the "1 Disputed Origins" -- it's on the "table of contents" that way.

-- Palm to forehead.
"1 disputed origins" returns only items that have Disputed Origins as the first item in the table of contents. When I searched without the "1", I got a lot of G2G hits, but I noticed that the search results for profiles included the string "1 disputed origins".

As for the spreadsheet, I don't know a good way to create that with Google Search results, but I do know that a person can open a search results page and work one-by-one through the results links on the page. Not the same as a spreadsheet, but if you are adding a category or a template to every profile on a list, it works!
Ah, but you can save a Google results list to another format. For example, copy the text of the page into a word-processing format. The full URLs display in the results list -- for example, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Balch-6 is the first result, and it is possible to click on those URLs in a normal word processor format -- but I'm not sure about the Google Docs document format.

site:wikitree.com/wiki

will give profiles

using just site:Wikitree.com then you also get G2G

Thanks both of you!
