I was recently notified by WikiTree that I was related to President Abraham Lincoln which was a wonderful surprise. After checking it on my database for verification, I suddenly remembered that I was also related to his killer John Wilkes Booth (half 12th cousins 3 times removed). With this information in hand I thought how ironic it would be if President Lincoln and his killer Booth were related. I entered his name after making President Lincoln "Home Person" in my tree and to my amazement they are 27th cousins once removed. The common ancestor to the three of us is Regnault Count of Corbeil De Corbeil and his wife Adelaide De Crecy both born in Corbeil, Marne, Champagne-Ardenne, France. I thought it was interesting and after checking as far as I could that no one else had discovered this fact, along with a short bio of myself I emailed the information to the Directors office at the American Museum of American History (Mr David K Allison) I thought it to be great that the son of a cotton mill worker could find his family to be related to these and many more historical figures.
Joseph A Williams, thanks to WikiTree and all of the participants for what you're doing.
I am eighty one years young and began genealogy research in June of 2004 when I suddenly realized I didn't know the first name of my paternal grandfather. More than that I didn't know the given names of any of my grandparents. If we the eleven children of a cotton mill worker had called them by their given name it would have required a visit to the woodshed. It took about three months to identify them. With that completed I was off to the races. My tree grew to over forty thousand souls. I have helped well over one hundred families in generating their family trees. Once I got over the P--- Off stage, what WikiTree is doing is World Class. One thing I forgot. WikiTree verified over 99% of my work. Again Thank you and your people.
