Shared Photo: Grandma & Grandad Hopkins

I wanted to share this family photo of Mary Hopkins (nee Bayes) and her husband, John Edwin Hopkins with the community. Location: Unknown. Possibly Riseley. Date: unknown, although he died in 1950, so obviously before then.

 

They are my great-great grandparents.  She looks happy even if he does look a little severe!

My Grandma says they were good grandparents when she and her brother were growing up - not so good for their own children as they used to run a pub and I think he rather drank the profits!

Fortunately the horse knew its own way home!

After they left the pub I think he didn't drink.  Although the cockerel that attacked my grandma one day found itself being served up for Sunday Lunch!
